Bringing People Together to Support AWARE Scotland
SSUK and QUICKBLOCK recently joined forces for a charity padel tournament, bringing together colleagues, businesses and friends in support of a Glasgow charity making a difference to young people's lives.
The event, held at Racket Barn in Glasgow, attracted 44 players across 22 teams, including a joint SSUK and TG Baker team. More than 60 people attended throughout the afternoon to take part, cheer on the competitors and enjoy the opportunity to connect with others from across the business community.
It was particularly good to welcome children and families supported by AWARE Scotland to the event, giving everyone an opportunity to learn more about the charity and the people who benefit from its work.
Making a difference to young people's lives
AWARE Scotland, which stands for Active Wellbeing And Respite Experiences, is a Glasgow-based charity established in 2022. The charity supports young people experiencing disadvantage or additional challenges, providing opportunities to build confidence, develop friendships and enjoy experiences they might otherwise struggle to access.
Its activities include supported respite breaks, days out, fitness and wellbeing sessions, and activities ranging from sailing and football to art and yoga. These experiences also provide valuable respite for parents and carers.
The importance of AWARE Scotland's work was recognised in August 2026 through a motion tabled in the House of Commons, which highlighted the charity's support for more than 90 young people and its contribution to providing hundreds of hours of respite for families.
Supported by a dedicated team of volunteers, AWARE Scotland relies on fundraising and donations to continue delivering these opportunities.
Bringing businesses together for a good cause
The tournament was an enjoyable afternoon of friendly competition, bringing together people from different organisations who share an interest in supporting their local communities.
Working alongside QUICKBLOCK, we were pleased to help create an event that combined networking and sport with an opportunity to raise awareness of AWARE Scotland's work.
Thanks to the generosity of those involved, the event also raised over £1,600 for the charity.
Supporting the communities around us
At SSUK, we believe businesses have an important role to play in supporting the communities around them.
Alongside our everyday work, we look for opportunities to contribute to charitable and community initiatives wherever we can. Whether through fundraising, volunteering or partnerships with other organisations, we recognise the value of bringing people and resources together to support good causes.
Events like this provide an opportunity to do just that, while building relationships beyond our usual working environments.
Our thanks go to QUICKBLOCK for partnering with us, everyone who participated or supported the tournament, and the team at AWARE Scotland for the important work they continue to do.
