Delivering Technology for the New Paisley Grammar School

There are few projects more rewarding than helping create environments where young people will learn, grow and achieve for generations to come. That's exactly what we're proud to be doing at the new Paisley Grammar School.

With construction entering its final stages and the new campus preparing to welcome pupils in August, we're delighted to be working alongside Renfrewshire Council to deliver the audio visual technology that will support teaching and learning from day one. The project remains on schedule, with the building now largely complete internally and digital fit-out progressing ahead of the school's opening.

A New Chapter for One of Scotland's Oldest Schools

Founded by Royal Charter in 1576, Paisley Grammar School is one of Scotland's oldest and most respected educational institutions. For more than four centuries it has played an important role in the life of Renfrewshire, producing generations of successful pupils while maintaining a reputation for academic excellence.

The move to a new purpose-built community campus marks one of the most significant moments in the school's history. The historic Glasgow Road building has served generations of pupils well, but today's learners need spaces designed for modern teaching, collaboration and digital learning.

The new campus has been created with exactly that in mind. Alongside traditional classrooms, it will feature specialist STEM facilities, learning plazas, a 300-seat theatre, teaching kitchens, music and drama facilities, fitness and sports provision, and community spaces that can be used well beyond the school day.

Supporting Renfrewshire's Learning Estate

Our work at Paisley Grammar School is part of a long-standing relationship with Renfrewshire Council.

As the council continues to invest in both new educational facilities and improvements across its existing estate, SSUK has been an ideal partner, providing advice, technology and ongoing support that helps schools create engaging learning environments for both pupils and staff.

Our role extends far beyond supplying equipment. We work collaboratively with schools and the council from the earliest planning stages, helping identify the right technology for each environment before managing procurement, installation, commissioning and long-term support. Every project is designed around the needs of teachers, pupils and the wider school community.

Technology That Supports Better Learning

At Paisley Grammar School, our team will install around 100 Promethean ActivPanel 10 interactive displays throughout the campus.

Interactive displays have become a central part of modern classrooms, enabling teachers to combine traditional teaching methods with digital content, collaborative activities and multimedia learning. Rather than simply replacing a whiteboard, they help create more engaging lessons where pupils can interact directly with content, participate in group activities and benefit from a more flexible learning experience.

The Promethean ActivPanel 10 has been designed specifically for education, offering responsive multi-touch functionality, 4K resolution, integrated teaching software and connectivity that allows teachers to move seamlessly between devices and lesson resources. The displays also include features designed to reduce eye strain, support collaborative learning and simplify day-to-day classroom use, allowing teachers to focus on teaching rather than technology.

Alongside the classroom installations, we are also delivering specialist technology within practical teaching areas, including home economics and technical education spaces, helping ensure every department has the tools it needs to support high-quality teaching across the curriculum.

Digital signage across the campus will be provided using CleverLive technology. This will provide pupils, staff and visitors event and other information about the operation of the school.

Looking Ahead

As construction draws to a close and preparations begin for staff and pupils to move into the new campus, it's exciting to see years of planning becoming a reality.

Projects like this demonstrate what can be achieved when modern educational design is combined with carefully considered technology. Our goal has always been to make technology simple, reliable and effective, giving teachers the confidence to teach and pupils the best possible environment in which to learn.

We're looking forward to completing our work over the coming weeks, seeing the finishing touches come together, and watching the new Paisley Grammar School Community Campus open its doors to the next generation of pupils as they begin an exciting new chapter in one of Scotland's oldest and most respected schools.
