Ashton Gate Stadium is one of the UK's leading sporting venues, hosting Bristol City FC, Bristol Bears and a wide range of major events throughout the year. To enhance the matchday experience and improve long-term reliability, Bristol Sport commissioned the replacement of the stadium's existing bowl screens with new large-format LED displays.
Advise
SSUK worked closely with Bristol Sport to develop the most effective replacement strategy for the existing screens. Discussions focused on compatibility with existing infrastructure, installation logistics and ensuring the new displays would deliver an improved experience for supporters while remaining reliable and straightforward to operate. Careful consideration was also given to structural requirements and safe installation methodologies.
Plan
A structured delivery programme was developed to manage the complexity of replacing two large-scale stadium displays. This included structural design work, specialist access planning, phased installation scheduling and coordination with the stadium's operational calendar to minimise disruption.
Deliver
SSUK delivered the removal of the existing displays, installation of new support structures and integration of replacement LED screen systems. The project involved extensive coordination of specialist access equipment, lifting operations and installation teams, ensuring both displays were delivered safely and to programme.
Support
Following installation, SSUK completed testing, commissioning and system handover. The solution was designed for long-term reliability, supported by manufacturer warranties and provision for future support requirements.
